The Face of God

A Second Look at the Psalms,      The Face of God.

Psalm 32:8 KJV
I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go:
I will guide thee with mine eye.

When we look into a person's face, their countenance is expressive of feeling and character.
The face of a clock reveals the time.
The expression of the face and eyes can be more instructive than a hand book.
But, to look into someone's face you have to come face to face with them.
To meet or encounter someone, to face them one to one, and look into their face,
is so much more than being in the same building or the same room.
"face to face" is even more than "presence"

2nd Chronicles  7:14  NKJV
14   If my people who are called by My name will humble themselves
and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways,
then I will hear them from heaven, and forgive their sin
and heal their land.

There we have it; In seeking revival we are to humble ourselves and seek his face.

Psalm 27:8 RSV
Thou hast said, " Seek ye my face,"
    My heart says to thee,
"Thy face, LORD, do I seek."

Psalm 42 RSV
1  As a deer longs for flowing streams
so longs my soul for you , O God.
2  My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.
When shall I come and behold the face of God ?

Psalm 105:4 RSV                                            1 Chronicles 16:11
Seek the LORD and his strength                Look to the Lord and his strength
seek his presence continually.                      Seek his face always.

Psalm 95:2 NRSV
  Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving;
Let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise !

1 Kings 13:6
Entreat now the face of the LORD thy God
       and pray for me.

Lamentations 2:19 NRSV
Pour out your heart like water before the presence of the Lord.
Lift your hands to him for the lives of your children.

Psalm 119:58
   I have sought your face with all my heart;
be gracious to me according to your promise.

2 Corinthians 4:6  NRSV
For it is the God who said, "Let light shine out of darkness,"
who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge
of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

A Second Look At The Psalms.......    The Face of God

If someone is going to guide you with their eyes
you have to look into their face.

Those of us who love the Lord our God,
who are moved to seek His face,
will come to see the Glory of God
shining in the face of Jesus.

             JESUS CHRIST
                        is
          GOD INCARNATE
               and the only
                SAVIOUR
               of  mankind

We are looking to the LORD, seeking His face,
looking to His strength when we pray,
seeking His strength for the people for whom we pray.

1st Kings 13:6
Entreat now the face of the LORD and pray for me.

This is intercession to which we are called.
The place of such prayer is the face of God.
In what company do we find ourselves
when we seek the face of God ?

Psalm 24 verses 4-6 New Revised Standard Version

4,Those who have clean hands and pure hearts,
who do not lift up their souls to what is false,
and do not swear deceitfully.
5, They will receive blessing from the LORD,
and vindication from the God of their salvation.
6, Such is the company of those who seek him,
who seek the face of the God of Jacob.

Psalm 11:7 NIV
For the LORD is righteous,  he loves justice,
upright men will see his face.

Psalm 31:16 NIV
Let your face shine on your servant
save me in your unfailing love.

Psalm 119:135 NIV
Make your face shine upon your servant
and teach me your decrees.

Psalm 4:6 NIV
.....Let the light of your face
          shine upon us, O LORD.

Psalm 67:1 NIV
May God be gracious to us and bless us,
and make his face to shine upon us.

Psalm 80:19 NIV
Restore us , O Lord God Almighty;
make your face shine upon us that we may be saved.

We pour out our heart before the presence of the Lord
and lift our hands to him, and entreat the face of the Lord our God.
When we ask God to forgive our sin and heal our land,
we pray as the angels in heaven who always see the face of our Father in Heaven.
How often have we prayed in the company of angels ?

"You are my protector and my refuge
My God; I will hope in Him.
3     For He shall free me from the snare of the hunters,
       and from every troubling word"

       And under His wings you shall hope;
His truth shall encircle you with a shield.

9    For You, O Lord, are my hope;
You made the Most High your refuge.
                                    xxx

is to put ourselves in a place of divine overshadowing
where there is great power,

so shall the wicked perish before God
