PSALM FORTY-EIGHT , GOD'S PRESENCE

Psalm 48: 1-2  RSV
Great is the LORD and greatly to be praised
in the city of our God !
His holy mountain, beautiful in elevation,
is a joy of all the earth,
Mount Zion , in the far north,
the city of the great King

New testament Christians join the angels and saints in praise of God,
in His presence.

Hebrews 12:22 RSV
But you have come to mount Zion and to the city of the living God,
the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable angels in festal gathering
23.........and to the spirits of just men made perfect.

God's presence is active and beneficial.

Hebrews 4:16 RSV
Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace
that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of trouble.

God is present in active praise

Psalm 22:3
But thou art holy , O thou that inhabitest  the praise of Israel

God's presence in each worshiper

Romans 8:16  RSV
When we cry " Abba ! Father ! " it is the Spirit himself 
bearing witness with our spirit  that we are children of God.

God is present in Christian meetings.

Matthew 18:20 RSV
Where two or three are gathered in my name,
there I am in the midst of them.

Members of the body of Christ form the community of the people of God.
